Sadly, I must inform you that it’s the end. The end of Detective Henry Palace, the end of the world, the final novel in Ben Winter’s Last Policeman trilogy. But fear not, at least you’ll have this incredible book to read as Earth descends into the next ice age! All Henry Palace wants to do is find his sister and do what he can to protect her before the asteroid known as Maia crashes into the earth. Traveling from his hometown in Concord, NH to Ohio, he encounters all kinds of insanity, not to mention lots of bad coffee. What he discovers will rock what’s left of his world. Palace is one of the best characters I’ve read in a while: kind hearted, determined, intelligent, but by no means a modern Sherlock Holmes. More than satisfying, World of Trouble is as heartbreaking as it is fascinating. Don’t let the asteroid aspect deter you. These are solid, hardboiled novels with just the right amount of creativity to make them standout. Goodbye, Henry Palace! You will be missed!
