The Mysterious Bookshop

Barnard, Robert - The Case of the Missing Bronte

New York, Scribner, 1983. First US edition. The third entry in the author's brief Perry Trethowan series finds our protagonist relaxing in a pub when an elderly spinster sits herself down at the table and natters on about an old manuscript allegedly written by Emily Bronte. Naturally, this being Trethowan, it leads to murder!  Naturally, this being Robert Barnard, we can enjoy sharply drawn characters, well-paced plotting, and a gentle humor generally absent from today's fiction. Near fine with light wear to DJ, which has a price sticker to the rear panel. $25.00.
