The Mysterious Bookshop

Rex Stout - The Red Box

New  York, Farrar & Rinehart, 1937.  First edition with Farrar logo to copyright page.  Blue-gray boards with red highlights.  Corners slightly bumped with wear to extremities. Spine faded.  Bookplate to front endpaper with both endpapers browned.  Very slight staining to rear board.  A model eats a piece of poisoned candy, then things are complicated when one of the suspects asks Wolfe to handle his estate, especially a mysterious red box.  According to the New Yorker magazine (September 28, 1946), Nero Wolfe 'waggled a finger' at someone no fewer than seventeen times in the book!  $150.00.
