Rex Stout - The President Vanishes

New York, Farrar & Rinehart, 1934.  First edition with Farrar logo to copyright page.  Red boards with black titling.  Fine with no DJ. Illustrated with b&w photographs and published anonymously when Stout noted the hoopla surrounding Henry Adams' Democracy which was published in 1880 without an author credit.  Rumors abounded that 'Vanishes' was a roman a clef about actual Washington dignitaries and Stout did not acknowledge authorship for five more years. $125.00.
