London, William Heinemann, 1970. Philip Youngman Carter (Pip) was married to Margery Allingham; upon her passing he carried on the Albert Campion titles but only published two before his own death, of which this is the second. An amateur archaeologist is found dead in bed, and a lot of people seem unduly interested in him, including Anthea Peregrine, the title character of sorts. Campion starts out investigating a case of industrial espionage, but ends up involved in murder, kidnapping, impersonation, and a secret hoard of diamonds. Fine in fine dust jacket, only blue stripes from a Brodart cover marring the latter. $15.00.
